Pricing matrix import featureThis article describes the new pricing matrix import feature which makes it possible to import various licensing profiles into the Pricing Matrix Edit console in your publisher’s account. To find this new feature, go to the Sales > Licensing Profiles admin page and then select any Licensing Profile you already have there. If you haven’t added a new one, then select the existing Default profile. To open it, you can double-click the row in the table or click the “Edit Profile” button. On the page that appears, click the Pricing Matrix “Edit” button to open the Pricing Matrix Edit screen. At the top right, you’ll see the Export and Import buttons. The pricing matrix export buttonThe Export button will open a dialog which lets you open or download the existing Pricing Matrix which contains all the license categories, types, titles, properties and values including the base price and various multipliers, etc. The file is in .txt format, for example: CalcMatrix-812.txt You can open this file in any text editor, if you wish, to see what’s in it and make any minor text edits, but to prevent format change errors, we recommend you make edits in the console before exporting. Benefits and advantages of exportingOne of the benefits of Exporting a Licensing Profile is to quickly set up another profile which will be similar, but have some different license types or pricing. Therefore, any custom Licensing Profile you set up can be Exported and saved to your computer, for later Import to another Licensing Profile. This is a good way to back up your custom edited pricing matrix (rate card) data, and also speeds up the process of setting up new licensing profiles which will be similar, but have other custom edited properties or pricing. After you’ve edited and exported a pricing matrix (from any licensing profile), you can then import it to the same or a new, or different, licensing profile. When ready, click the Import button, at top right of the Pricing Matrix Edit page, and select from the available import options. Pricing matrix import optionsThe default Import option is “Replace existing data” which first deletes all existing data (categories and license types) for this licensing profile’s pricing matrix. If you want to save all existing data, select the “Append existing data” option which then lets you select where you want to insert the imported data. The options are “At the top” or below an existing license category. Then the dialog lets you Add the file (on your computer) to be uploaded. It may take anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes depending on the length and size of the file. When import is complete, you’ll get a status message which you can click and close the import upload console. Import/export tipsFor best practice, we recommend you first Export your existing Pricing Matrix data and save as a backup on your computer. This way you can Import it later, if you still need all or some portion of it, which you can then edit from the Pricing Matrix screen.
